Nationally Ranked Spartans Set to Open 2020 Campaign

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 6th ranked Northampton Baseball team is scheduled to open the 2020 campaign on Tuesday March 3rd, as they travel to Vineland, NJ to face the defending NJCAA National Champion Dukes of Cumberland County College (5-2).

The Spartans, coming off a 37-10 season, which saw them climb as high as #2 in the NJCAA national poll, have high expectations for the 2020 season.  "Our goal every season is to compete for the Region XIX title and earn a bid to the World Series," remarked 12th year mentor Adrian Yaguez, "but the guys that enter our program know they have to compete every day to achieve those goals ... you can't just show up in this Region, you have to be ready to play each and every day"

Yaguez, 284-154 in his career at Northampton, will sport one of his youngest rosters during his tenue with the Spartans, with only six sophomores on his 29 man squad.  "We will be relying on a number of freshmen to play key roles for us this year," explained Yaguez, "we played a really competitive fall schedule, so these guys have grown up fast and will be ready to compete at a high level."
