SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - The 14th ranked Northampton women's basketball team earned their 4th win of the season on Tuesday evening, downing cross-town rival Lehigh Carbon Community College, 93-23, at the Cougar Den.
Head Coach
Terrence Bomar got a huge game from his bench, led by
Olivia George (Allentown, PA/Whitehall),
Xion Spence (Bushkill, PA/E. Stroudsburg North) and
Brianna Cooper (Philadelphia, PA/Kensington), as the Spartans jumped out to a 21-1 lead after the 1st quarter and never looked back. "Really proud of the bench tonight," remarked Bomar, "they gave us great energy and stepped in and played big minutes when we needed it. Our rotation was a little different tonight, due to missing a few players, but everyone stepped up their game and contributed."
Spence led the Spartans with 11 points, while Cooper added 16 and
Alayna Day (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) chipped in with 15.
The win moves Northampton to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in Region 19.
Lehigh Carbon falls to 0-3 overall with the loss.
The Spartans are now off until Saturday when they host Montgomery County Community College, with tip-off set for 12pm.
