BRYN MAWR, Pa. - Playing their second consecutive NJCAA Division II opponent, the Northampton women's basketball team fell 92-49 to Harcum College on Saturday afternoon at Klein Hall.
The DII Bears jumped out to a commanding 25-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back, holding the Spartans to 29% shooting from the floor and forcing 22 turnovers.
"The Harcum team and their staff did a great job today, I tip my hat to them," remarked Head Coach
Terrence Bomar, "I am hoping that we can take some lessons from today and apply them moving forward as we hit our Region schedule. We need to get a better start out the gate, falling behind by double-digits early is tough to overcome."
Zoe Cruz (Swiftwater, PA/Pocono Mt. East) and
Alayna Day (Reading, PA/Muhlenburg) led Northampton with 9 points each, while
Kania Day (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) finished with 8 points and 9 rebounds.
The loss drops Northampton to 2-3 overall, while Harcum improves to 4-1.
The Spartans are now off until Thursday November 17th when they open Region 19 play with a home contest vs. Lehigh Carbon Community College at 5pm.
