BETHLEHEM, Pa. -
Shanaiya Ellis (Allentown, PA/William Allen) scored 14 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 5 assists to help lead the Northampton women's basketball team over Lehigh Carbon Community College, 76-42, on Thursday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans jumped out to dominating 24-5 lead after the 1st quarter and then cruised to the 34 point victory.
"Happy with the win, but we are still not consistent on the offensive end," remarked Head Coach
Terrence Bomar, "we need to find those individuals that we can count on game after game to produce consistent results."
Aslyn Toledo Rivera (Allentown, PA/William Allen) had 14 points and 11 rebounds, while
Xion Spence (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) added 12 points and a team-high 13 boards.
The Spartans out-rebounded the Cougars 72-38 and held LCCC to just 24.6% shooting from the field.
Northampton, ranked 15th in the latest NJCAA poll, improved to 3-3 on the year, while LCCC falls to 0-1.
The victory moves Northampton to 18-1 all-time vs. Lehigh Carbon.
The Spartans travel to Toms River, NJ on Saturday to face Ocean County College in their Region 19 opener.
