BINGHAMTON, NY - The 14th ranked Northampton women's basketball team dropped their first game of the season, falling 66-63 to Broome Community College on Thursday evening at Richard E. Baldwin Gymnasium.
Broome, which led 33-32 af the half, used eight 3-pointers to pull off the upset of the nationally-ranked Spartans. "Give Broome credit, they hit a number of big shots tonight," stated Head Coach
Terrence Bomar, "we need to learn from this experience and get ready to play on Saturday against a nationally-ranked opponent in PGCC."
The Spartans struggled at the charity stripe, only converting 14 of 27 free throws.
Alayna Day (Reading, PA/Muhlenburg) led the Spartans with 19 points, while
Deovion Yates (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) added 14.
Broome improves to 1-1 with the win, while Northampton falls to 1-1.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they travel to Largo, Maryland to face 9th ranked Prince George's Community College at 2pm.
