BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's basketball team clinched their 7th EPAC championship in 9 seasons with a convincing 79-62 victory over the Community College of Philadelphia on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
Alayna Day (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) scored 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 5 assists to pace the Spartan attack, while
Deovion Yates (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) added 14 points and
Briona McClain (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mt. West ) had 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Northampton, which built the lead to 28 points with 5:05 remaining in the 3rd quarter, shot 42% from the field for the game and out-rebounded the Lions 55-39.
The win moves Northampton to 11-5 overall, 6-1 in Region 19 and 4-0 in the EPAC.
Philadelphia falls to 7-12 overall, 4-4 in Region 19 and 2-2 in the conference.
Northampton returns to the hardwood on Thursday when they host NJCAA Division II Mercer County Community College at 5pm.
