BETHLEHEM, Pa. - 3rd ranked RCSJ-Gloucester used a 20-10 advantage in the 3rd quarter to open a close contest vs. Northampton and held on down the stretch to top the Spartans, 62-47.
Turnovers plagued the Spartans throughout the contest, leading to 26 points for the Roadrunners. Defensively the Spartans held RCSJ-Gloucester to just 29% shooting from the field and out-rebounded their visitors 55-39, but the Spartans had their own struggles from the field as well, converting just 16 of 61 attempts.
Briona McClain (Tobyhanna, PA/Pocono Mt. West ) led the Spartans with 16 points and 18 rebounds, while
Alayna Day (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) and
Deovion Yates (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) each added 6 points.
Xion Spence (Bushkill, PA/E. Stroudsburg North) hauled down 11 rebounds and
Raquel Costache (Bushkill, PA/E. Stroudsburg North) dished out 3 assists to pace Northampton.
The loss drops Northampton to 13-6 overall and 6-2 in Region 19.
The Roadrunners improve to 21-2 overall and 13-0 in Region 19..
The Spartans end the regular season on Saturday when they travel to Brookdale to face the Jersey Blues at 12pm.
