SEWELL, NJ - Top-ranked RCSJ-Gloucester used an 11-run 5th inning to blow-open a close game vs. the 9th ranked Spartans, to cruise to a 19-2 victory in the top-10 showdown of Region 19 foes.
Leading 3-1 entering the bottom of the 5th, the Roadrunners scored 11 runs to take a commanding 14-1 lead and then added 5 in the 6th to earn the victory. RCSJ-Gloucester had 11 hits and took advantage of 10 Spartan errors in the win.
Luke Spencer (Dallas, PA/Lake-Lehman) was 2 for 2,
Ryan Santangelo (Oxford, PA/Oxford Area) went 1 for 2 with a walk and 1 RBI and
Jeffrey Sabater (Lansdale, PA/North Penn) was 1 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the Northampton offense.
Ryan Gordon (New Cumberland, PA/Red Land) took the loss for Northampton on the mound, allowing 7 runs (2 earned) in 4 innings of work.
Jake Black (Bethlehem, PA/Elizabethtown Area ) and
Tylar Patrick (Barrie, ON - Canada/) combined to throw the final innings, allowing 12 runs (none earned) on 6 hits.
The loss drops Northampton to 21-5 overall and 2-1 in Region 19.
RCSJ-Gloucester improves to 25-4 overall and 17-2 in the Region.
The Spartans return to action on Thursday when they travel to Division II Mercer County Community College.
