GEORGETOWN, DE - The Northampton softball team traveled south to face NJCAA Division II Delaware Technical and Community College on Saturday, falling 9-0 and 16-1 in the doubleheader.
Game One - Del Tech 9 | Northampton 0
The Spartans only managed 3 hits in game one, as
Destiny Koppenhaver (Bethlehem, PA/Commonwealth Charter ),
Regina Bangcoro (Easton, PA /Easton) and
Sophia Iovino (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) each reached base once in the 9-0 loss.
Bangcoro took the loss in the circle, working 4 innings, allowing 9 runs on 6 hits, walking 8 and striking out 4.
Game Two - Del Tech 16 | Northampton 1
The Spartans started off hot in game two, as
Natalie Lazaro (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) singled and then eventually scored on a line drive single from
Siera Klingle (East Bangor, PA/Bangor) to give Northampton an early 1-0 lead.
Del Tech responded by scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the 1st and then added 7 in the 2nd to blow the game open.
The Spartans managed 5 hits in game two, as Klingle finished 1-2 with a RBI, Lazaro and
Destiny Koppenhaver (Bethlehem, PA/Commonwealth Charter ) each went 1-3 and
Regina Bangcoro (Easton, PA /Easton) and
Sophia Iovino (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic) each went 1 for 2.
Klingle, who took the loss, allowing 8 runs on 5 hits, was relieved by Bangcoro (2IP, 8H, 7R, 1BB, 2 K) and
Bridget Pavelko (Bethlehem, PA /Notre Dame - Green Pond ) (2 IP, 2H, 1R, 1BB, 1K).
The Spartans fall to 8-14 overall with the two losses, while Del Tech improves to 26-2.
Northampton hosts RCSJ-Gloucester on Sunday at 12pm in a criticial Region 19 matchup.
