BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's volleyball team improved to 5-1 overall with a 19-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-14 victory over visiting Penn State - Lehigh Valley on Tuesday evening at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans dropped the opening set, but then rebounded to take the next three, and the match, for their 5th consecutive victory.
Jordan Appleton (Langhorne, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) recorded 17 kills, 12 digs and 1 block,
Ayana Bomani (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) had 10 kills, 17 digs and 5 blocks,
Genesis Martinez (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) notched 6 kills and 7 digs,
Theresa Crimi (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) added 11 digs and
Meghan Speshok (Easton, PA/Easton) registered 34 assists and 16 digs to lead the Spartans.
"We got off to a slow start," commented Head Coach
Rachael Caywood, "we need to be able to focus from the opening point, but I'm happy with how the ladies responded and were able to get the win."
Northampton, now 5-1 overall, hosts NJCAA Division II Delaware Tech on Thursday at 7pm.
