PATERSON, NJ - The Northampton women's basketball team opened Region 19 play by downing Passaic County Community College 81-51 on Saturday afternoon at Panther Arena.
Xenia Gillis (Yeadon, PA/Penn Wood) led four Spartans in double figures, finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Kania Day (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) added 15,
Zoe Cruz (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mt. East) 13 and
Shanaiya Ellis (Allentown, PA/William Allen) 10, as 10 of the 11 Spartans in uniform scored.
"I thought the team played tough for 4 quarters today," remarked Head Coach
Terrence Bomar, "we were able to utilize our advantage in the post and we played through our mistakes to earn a tough road victory."
Cruz added 4 assists, while
Yonique Reynolds (Easton, PA/Wilson) contributed 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
The win moves Northampton to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in Region 19.
Passaic falls to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the Region.
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday November 14th when they return to the Garden State with a visit to Paramus, NJ to face Bergen Community College at 5pm.
