TOMS RIVER, NJ - The 9th ranked Northampton women's basketball team rebounded from their first loss of the season on Thursday with a commanding 89-28 victory over Ocean County College on Saturday afternoon at the Viking Athletic Center.Â
The Spartans showed no ill effects from the loss on Thursday, taking a dominating 29-7 lead after the 1st quarter and coasting to a 61-point victory over the Vikings.Â
"I was glad we were able to bounce back after the loss," remarked Head Coach
Terrence Bomar, "we got great production from our bench and picked up an important Region 19 road victory."
Kamauri Gordon-Bey (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) led the charge with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 steals, while
Zoe Cruz (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mt. East) added 15 points and 5 assists.
Xenia Gillis (Yeadon, PA/Penn Wood) added 12 points,
Kania Day (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) had 10 and
Eliana Bonilla-Martinez (Allentown, PA/Executive Charter) finished with 8 points and 9 boards.
The win moves Northampton to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in Region 19.
Ocean falls to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the Region.
The Spartans return to the Arthur L. Scott Center on Tuesday when they host RCSJ-Cumberland at 5pm.
