8th Ranked Spartans Down RCSJ-Cumberland 86-37

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 8th ranked Northampton women's basketball team improved to 7-1 on the year with an 86-37 victory over RCSJ-Cumberland on Tuesday night at the Arthur L. Scott Center.

Shanaiya Ellis (Allentown, PA/William Allen) led five Spartans in double figures with 14, as Northampton shot a season-best 53% from the field (37/70).  Yonique Reynolds (Easton, PA/Wilson) and Anisha Sepulveda (Lancaster, PA/McCaskey) each had 12, while Kania Day (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) and Xenia Gillis (Yeadon, PA/Penn Wood) both had 10.

The Spartans forced 39 Duke turnovers and limited Cumberland to just 32% shooting from the field.

"Overall a solid night, we had great balance and shot the ball extremely well," stated Head Coach Terrence Bomar, "our defense created a number of easy opportunities and we were able to convert."

The win moves Northampton to 7-1 overall, while RCSJ-Cumberland falls to 0-2.

The Spartans now hit a lull in their schedule with the Thanksgiving Holiday and then two cancelled games; November 28th vs. Harrisburg Area Community College and November 30th vs. Broome Community College.  The Spartans will back on the court on Saturday December 2nd when they will face Division II Raritan Valley Community College at noon.
