LINCROFT, NJ - The 8th ranked Northampton women's basketball team remained perfect in Region 19 play with a dominating 87-52 victory over Brookdale Community College on Tuesday evening at Collins Arena.
Zoe Cruz (Stroudsburg, PA/Pocono Mt. East) led a quartet of Spartans in double figures, scoring a season-high 29 points, including 8 3-pointers, followed by
Kania Day (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) with 18,
Kamauri Gordon-Bey (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion) 17 and
Yonique Reynolds (Easton, PA/Wilson) 12.
Northampton, which led by 6 after the 1st quarter, put the game away with a 28-13 2nd quarter advantage to give the Spartans a 45-24 lead at the intermission. "I'm very proud of the girls ability to bounce back and work together after a tough loss in our last game," stated Head Coach
Terrence Bomar, "I hope we can continue to raise the bar with our energy as we close in on the postseason."
Cruz added 10 assists, while Day and Reynolds both had double-figure rebounds with 15 and 12 respectively.
The win moves Northampton to 12-4 overall and 8-0 in Region 19.
Brookdale falls to 3-11 overall and 2-7 in the Region with the loss.
The Spartans are back in action on Thursday with a trip across the Lehigh Valley to Lehigh Carbon Community College for a 5pm tip vs. the Cougars.
