VINELAND, NJ -
Anisha Sepulveda (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) scored a career high 37 points to lead the Northampton women's basketball team to a 71-33 victory over RCSJ-Cumberland on Tuesday evening at the Dukes Athletic Center.
Sepulveda finished 13 of 24 from the field and 10 of 12 from the line, to go along with 3 assists and 5 steals.
Northampton overcame a slow start, scoring just 27 points in the first half, exploding for 44 second half points while holding RCSJ-Cumberland to just 15 points over the final 20 minutes of action.
"We were definitely slow out of the gate tonight offensively," remarked Head Coach
Carly Gallagher, "but thankfully our defense allowed us to have the lead at halftime. We were able to execute much better on the offensive end in the 3rd and 4th quarters and play to our strengths."
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 steals, while
Heaven Dubois (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) recorded another double-double, finishing with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
The Spartans recorded 19 steals and blocked 11 shots, while holding the Dukes to just 13 field goals.
The win moves Northampton to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in Region 19.
RCSJ-Cumberland falls to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the Region.
The Spartans stay on the road and travel to Lincroft, NJ to face Brookdale on Thursday at 5pm.
