LINCROFT, NJ - Freshman
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) scored a career-high 38 points to help lead the Northampton women's basketball team to a 68-48 victory over Brookdale Community College on Thursday evening at Collins Arena.
Sweatte finished 17/32 from the field and added 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists as the Spartans remained perfect on the season.
Anisha Sepulveda (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) scored 12 points and handed out 10 assists,
Heaven Dubois (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) had 14 points and 16 rebounds and
Imaani Mata (Bethlehem, PA/Lehigh Valley Academy) hauled down 10 rebounds for Northampton.
"I thought our energy and effort were outstanding tonight," remarked Head Coach
Carly Gallagher, "Brookdale is a very talented team and we came ready to play right from the tip and sustained that for 40 minutes."
The win moves Northampton to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in Region 19.
Brookdale falls to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the Region.
The Spartans continue their road trip on Saturday as they travel to Paramus, NJ to face Bergen Community College at 12pm.
