BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 4th quarter spelled disaster for the Northampton women's basketball team, as 12th ranked RCSJ-Gloucester pulled away for a 75-61 victory at the Arthur L. Scott Center on Thursday evening.
The Spartans and Roadrunners entered the final stanza tied at 50, but RCSJ-Gloucester outscored Northampton 25-11 over the final 10 minutes. "We simply ran out of gas," remarked Head Coach
Carly Gallagher, "I am very proud of how we competed, but their inside game really hurt us in the 4th quarter."
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) finished with 29 points, while
Anisha Sepulveda (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) added 16 points and 6 assists, while
Raquel Costache (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg North) had 10 points and 6 rebounds.
The loss drops Northampton to 9-3 overall and 7-2 in Region 19.
12th ranked RCSJ-Gloucester improves to 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the Region.
The Spartans travel to Montgomery County Community College on Saturday to close out the semester. Game time vs. the Mustangs is scheduled for 12pm.
