CANADAIGUA, NY - The Northampton softball team picked up two wins on Friday, sweeping a non-conference doubleheader vs. Finger Lakes Community College at Laker Park.
GAME ONE - Won 13-5
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) earned the win in game one, picking up her 1st collegiate victory. Harper tossed 6 innings, allowing 5 runs on 4 hits, striking out 12.
Cassandra Schillo (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) led the offensive charge with a 3 for 4 performance at the plate, including 2 doubles, 4 RBI and 4 runs scored.
Jenna Geiger (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) finished 1 for 3 with a homerun and 2 RBI and
Hannah Karc (Wind Gap, PA/Nazareth) went 3 for 5 with 4 runs scored.
GAME TWO - Won 16-2
In game two, the Spartans picked up where they left off in game one, scoring 8 runs in the 1st inning and jumping out to a commanding 16-2 lead after 3 innings, en-route to the run-rule shortened 5-inning victory.
Taylor Neumann (York, PA/York Suburban) picked up the complete game victory, scattering 5 hits, allowing 2 runs and striking out 4 Lakers.
Morgan Rissmiller (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) finished 3 for 4 with 2 doubles,
Zoe Holbert (Enola, PA/East Pennsboro) had 3 RBI and
Molly Devers (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored to pace the Spartans.
The two victories move Northampton to 2-2 overall.
The Spartans will continue their New York road trip as they travel to Corning, NY on Saturday to face the #2 ranked Red Barons. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
