Harper Leads Northampton to Sweep of Bergen

PARAMUS, NJ - Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) picked up two victories in the circle on Saturday, helping the Spartans sweep Bergen Community College, 14-0, 15-3, in a Region 19 doubleheader at the Bulldog Softball Complex.

GAME ONE - Won 14-0
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) threw a complete game 2-hit shutout in game one, striking out 6, as the Spartans prevailed 14-0 in 5 innings. 

Cassandra Schillo (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) was 1 for 1 with a walk, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored and a walk, while Jenna Geiger (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) finished 1 for 1 with a 3-run homerun to pace the offense.

The Spartans used 5 hits and 15 walks to manufacture 14 runs. 

GAME TWO - Won 15-3
Harper returned to the circle in game two and picked up her 2nd victory of the afternoon, pitching 5 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, walking 1 and fanning 7. 

Morgan Boyd (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) smashed a grand slam, Zoe Holbert (Enola, PA/East Pennsboro) was 1 for 2 with 3 RBI and Hannah Karc (Wind Gap, PA/Nazareth) had a homerun, 2 RBI, 2 walks and scored 3 runs. 

Northampton had 15 hits in game two, taking a 13-1 lead after 2 innings. 

The Spartans, who are ranked 10th in the latest NJCAA national poll, improve to 10-4 overall and 4-0 in Region 19.

Bergen falls to 0-9 overall and 0-7 in the Region. 

Northampton returns to the friendly confines of Spartan Field on Tuesday when they are set to host Camden County College in a Region 19 doubleheader at 3:30pm.
