SCRANTON, Pa. - The 10th ranked Northampton softball dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader to NJCAA Division II Lackawanna College on Sunday afternoon, falling 11-7 and 9-2.
GAME ONE - Lost 11-7
In a contest that had 31 hits combined, the Spartans fell to the Falcons 11-7.
Starter
Theresa Luongo (Lopatcong, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) took the loss, working 3.1 innings, allowing 7 runs (6 earned) on 11 hits.
Taylor Neumann (York, PA/York Suburban) came in relief and threw the final 2.2 innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits.
Morgan Boyd (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI,
Hannah Karc (Wind Gap, PA/Nazareth) finished 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and
Jenna Geiger (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) was 2 for 4 with a homerun and 2 RBI.
GAME TWO - Lost 9-2
Lackawanna jumped out to an early 7-2 and coasted to a 9-2 win in game two.
Kamryn Tokar (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) went 2.1 innings, allowing 7 runs (1 earned) and
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) hurled the final 3.2 innings, allowing 2 unearned runs, while striking out 5.
Morgan Boyd (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South),
Hannah Karc (Wind Gap, PA/Nazareth) and
Jenna Geiger (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) each had a double and
Cassandra Schillo (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) was 1 for 3 with a RBI to pace the offense.
The losses drop Northampton to 13-9 overall.
Lackawanna improves to 33-12.
The Spartans return to Region 19 play on Tuesday when they travel to Vineland, NJ to face RCSJ-Cumberland at 3:30pm.
