sVINELAND, NJ - The 7th ranked Northampton softball team picked up two wins on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping the Dukes of RCSJ-Cumberland, 9-4 and 20-4 at the Dukes Softball Complex.
GAME ONE - Won 9-4
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) earned the win in game one, throwing a complete game 7-hitter, allowing 4 runs (3 earned), while striking out 6.
Morgan Boyd (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) went 4 for 5 with 2 runs scored,
Kamryn Tokar (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) was 2 for 3 and
Shana Gugliandolo (Allentown, PA/Parkland) finished 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored.
GAME TWO - Won 20-4
Hannah Karc (Wind Gap, PA/Nazareth) had a monster game at the plate in game two, finishing 4 for 5 with a homerun and 4 RBI.
Jenna Geiger (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) was 3 for 3 with a double and 4 RBI and
Chelsea Melkowits (Lanoka Harbor, NJ/Lacey Township) went 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI.
Theresa Luongo (Lopatcong, NJ/Phillipsburg (NJ)) went 4.0 innings to get the win, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits.
Kamryn Tokar (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) pitched a scoreless 5th inning, in the run-rule shortened contest.
Northampton improves to 15-9 overall and 9-1 in Region 19.
Cumberland falls to 6-18 overall and 4-6 in the Region.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they host Middlesex College in a Region 19 doubleheader. First pitch is slated for noon.
