SEWELL, NJ - The 4th seeded Northampton softball team dropped their opening game of the Region 19 Final Four, falling to top-seeded RCSJ-Gloucester, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at Roadrunner Park.
The Roadrunners broke open a scoreless tie in the bottom of the 5th, scoring 2 runs, as Coral Davidson reached on an error, Anna Cirucci singled to score Davidson and Rylee Shappell doubled, scoring Cirucci.Â
RCSJ-Gloucester added 2 more runs in the 6th, highlighted by a Nancy Sanchez 2-run double.Â
Hannah Karc (Wind Gap, PA/Nazareth) and
Morgan Boyd (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) had the only hits for Northampton.Â
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) took the loss in the circle, going 4.2 innings, allowing 2 unearned runs on 3 hits, striking out 2.Â
Taylor Neumann (York, PA/York Suburban) pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing 2 unearned runs.Â
The loss drops Northampton to 20-13 on the season, while RCSJ-Gloucester improves to 22-8.
The Spartans will now face 2nd seeded Middlesex on Sunday in Sewell, NJ in an elimination game at 10am.Â
