BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton women's basketball team used a big 3rd quarter to pull away from Sussex County Community College and earn an 86-44 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur L. Scott Center.
The Spartans outscored the Skylanders 29-7 in the 3rd quarter to take a 63-29 lead after 30 minutes and then coasted to the 42-point victory.
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) scored a team-high 21 points,
Anisha Sepulveda (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) had 20 points and 9 assists and
Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) finished with a season-high 19 points and 9 rebounds.
"We came out quick, but I thought we lost our intensity in the 2nd quarter and let Sussex get back in the game," remarked Head Coach
Carly Gallagher, "We did a much better job staying locked in during the second half, at it was reflected in the score. I can't say enough about the new additions we brought on this semester, the team is really playing well together."
The win moves Northampton to 11-4 overall and 14-3 all-time vs. Sussex County.
The Spartans hit the road on Tuesday, traveling to Philadelphia to face the Lions of the Community College of Philadelphia at 5pm.
