BLACKWOOD, NJ - The Northampton women's basketball team dropped a 51-48 decision to Camden County College on Thursday evening at Papiano Arena in Region 19 action.
The Spartans, who played without starting point guard
Anisha Sepulveda (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey), led 35-31 entering the 4th quarter, but were outscored 20-13 over the final 10 minutes of the contest.Â
"We just didn't finish," commented Head Coach
Carly Gallagher, "we had an opportunity to pick a big road win, without our starting point guard, but we just couldn't make the plays we needed to down the stretch. I'm proud of the effort, we just came up short."
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen), who is currently ranked 4th in the country in scoring at 23.3ppg, finished with 23 points, while
Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) added 12 points and 14 rebounds.Â
The loss drops Northampton to 11-6 overall and 8-4 in Region 19.
Camden, which received votes in the latest NJCAA poll, improved 15-4 overall and 11-2 in Region 19.Â
Northampton is now off until January 23rd when they travel to Toms River, NJ to face Ocean County College.Â
