TOMS RIVER, NJ - The Northampton women's basketball team snapped their 2-game losing streak, downing Ocean County College 85-53 on Thursday evening at the Viking Center.
The Spartans got off to a quick start, taking a 19-10 lead after the 1st quarter and expanding that lead to 34-19 at the halftime break.
Heaven Dubois (Lancaster, PA/JP McCaskey) recorded a huge double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds, while
Kailen Felty (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove) added 22 points and 7 rebounds and
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) finished with 18 points.
"Great team win tonight," stated Head Coach
Carly Gallagher, "we definitely needed this win today after a tough stretch last week. Hopefully we are back on track and ready to make a playoff push."
Racquel Costache added 14 rebounds for the Spartans.
The win moves Northampton to 12-6 overall and 9-4 in Region 19.
Ocean falls to 5-12 overall and 4-10 in the Region.
The Spartans are now off until Tuesday January 28th when they host the Jersey Blues of Brookdale.
