SEWELL, NJ - In a battle of top-10 teams, the 10th ranked Northampton Softball team earned a split with #4 RCSJ-Gloucester on Saturday, dropping game one 8-0 and rebounding to take game two, 15-3.
GAME ONE - Lost 8-0 (5 innings)
In game one the Spartans managed only 6 hits in an 8-0 loss to the Roadrunners.
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) took the loss, allowing 8 runs on 10 hits.
Maggie Pagotto (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) was 2 for 2, while
Molly Devers (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) went 1 for 1 with 2 walks.
GAME TWO - Won 15-3 (5 innings)
The Spartans had 17 hits in game two, as
Emma Kozy (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) finished 2 for 4 with 3 RBI, 2 runs scored and a triple.
Molly Devers (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) collected 4 hits, including a double and
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) laced 2 triples and finished with 2 RBI.
Kozy earned the win in the circle, throwing 5 innings, allowing 7 hits and 3 runs while striking out 9 and walking 3.
Both the Spartans and Roadrunners are now 1-1 overall, and 1-1 in Region 19.
The Spartans are off until March 11th when they travel to Bergen.
