BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 9th ranked Northampton softball team picked up two wins on Saturday, downing Ocean County College, 5-0 and 15-2, in a Region 19 doubleheader at Spartan Field.
GAME ONE - Won 5-0
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) earned the win in game one, throwing a complete game shutout, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 6.Â
Molly Devers (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) paced the offense with a 3 for 4 performance, including 2 runs scored, while
Maggie Pagotto (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) finished 1 for 4 with 2 RBI.
Mackenzie Davis (Warsaw, VA/Rappahannock (VA)) added a hit and a RBI to pace the Spartans.Â
GAME TWO - Won 15-2 (5 innings)
The Spartans had 14 hits and took advantage of 7 Viking errors to win a run-rule shortened game two, 15-2, in 5 innings.Â
Taylor Neumann (York, PA/York Suburban) got the win, going 5 innings, allowing 2 runs (none earned), on just a single hit, while fanning 9.Â
Katie Knecht (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) and Neumann each had doubles, while
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) finished 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.Â
Emma Kozy (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) was 2 for 3 and
Morgan Boyd (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) had 2 hits and 2 RBI as the Spartans won their 3rd straight game.
The sweep moves Northampton to 5-2 overall and 5-2 in Region 19.Â
Ocean falls to 0-10 overall and 0-8 in the Region.
The Spartans hit the road on Tuesday, traveling to Edison, NJ to face Middlesex College at 3:30pm.
