TOMS RIVER, NJ - The 10th ranked Northampton softball team picked up two wins on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping Ocean County College in a Region 19 doubleheader at Cohen Park.
GAME ONE - Won 21-0
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) earned the win in game one with a complete game 3-hitter, striking out 5 and walking none as the Spartans dominated the Vikings 21-0.
Harper also finished 4 for 4 at the plate, including a double, triple, 4 RBI and 4 runs scored.
Emma Kozy (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) was 3 for 4 and
Morgan Boyd (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) went 2 for 3 with 4 RBI as the Spartans laced 18 hits in the victory.
GAME TWO - Won 16-0
Emma Kozy (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) threw a no-hitter in game two, striking out 5 and walking 1 as the Spartans prevailed 16-0.
Katie Knecht (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored, a double and a triple, while
Jenna Geiger (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) went 1 for 3 with 4 RBI.
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) had another big game, finishing 4 for 5 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI.
The sweep moves Northampton to 9-8 overall and 9-6 in Region 19.
Ocean falls to 3-21 overall and 3-19 in the Region.
The Spartans are back in action on Saturday when they host Middlesex College in a doubleheader, slated to begin at noon.
