BLACKWOOD, NJ - The 10th ranked Northampton Softball team picked up two wins on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping the Cougars of Camden County College, 8-0 and 10-0, in a Region 19 doubleheader.
GAME ONE - WON 8-0 (5 innings)
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) threw a complete game 1-hitter, striking out 7 and walking just 1, in the shutout victory.
Maggie Pagotto (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) finished 2 for 3 with a double, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored and
Morgan Boyd (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored to pace the offense.
Katie Knecht (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) added 2 hits for the Spartans.
GAME TWO - WON 10-0 (5 innings)
In game two, Emmy Kozy fired a complete game 2-hitter, striking out 6 and walking 2 to earn the shutout victory.
Northampton put 5 runs on the board in the top of the 1st and that was all Kozy would need, as the Spartans coasted to a 10-0, run-rule shortened victory.
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI,
Molly Devers (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) was 2 for 3,
Morgan Boyd (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and
Mya Frana (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) added 2 hits for the Spartans.
The Spartans had 14 hits in the victory.
The two wins move Northampton to 11-8 overall and 11-6 in Region 19.
Camden falls to 6-31 overall and 5-19 in the Region.
The Spartans are back in action on Wednesday when they host Bergen in a triple-header, with game one scheduled for 2pm. Game one is the resumption of a suspended game from March 11th, with Northampton leading 13-0 in the 3rd inning.
