BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 10th ranked Northampton softball team picked up three wins over Bergen Community College on Wednesday, downing the Bulldogs 17-0 in the conclusion of a suspended game from March 11th, and then taking both ends of their Region 19 doubleheader, 11-3 and 10-2.
Resumption of Suspended Game from March 11th - WON 17-0
The Spartans led 13-0 after 2 innings on March 11th when the game was called due to darkness, over a month and half later the two teams resumed the action and Northampton claimed a run-rule shortened 17-0 victory.
Emma Kozy (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) got the win, pitching a complete game 1-hitter, striking out 5.
Maggie Pagotto (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) was 3 for 4 with 4 RBI and
Mackenzie Davis (Warsaw, VA/Rappahannock (VA)) added 3 RBI.
Game One - WON 11-3
In game one, the Spartans used a 7-run 4th inning to pull away from the Bulldogs and earn an 11-3 victory.
Taylor Neumann (York, PA/York Suburban) threw the complete game 3 hitter, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 3 hits, striking out 5.
Jenna Geiger (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) led the offense with a 2 for 4 performance, with a double and 3 RBI.
Katie Knecht (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) finished 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and
Molly Devers (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) blasted 2 doubles for the Spartans.
Game Two - WON 10-2
Sydney Harper (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) got the win in game two with a complete game 3-hitter, allowing 2 runs, and striking out 3.
Emma Kozy (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) hit a 3-run homerun in the bottom of the 1st and
Maggie Pagotto (Lehighton, PA/Lehighton) finished 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.
The Spartans, who have won 7 straight, improve to 14-8 overall and 14-6 in Region 19.
Bergen falls to to 7-23 overall and 4-20 in Region play.
Northampton is back in action on Friday, when they travel to Edison, NJ to face Middlesex College.
