BRANCHBURG, NJ - The Northampton women's basketball team rallied from a 20-point deficit to stun NJCAA Division II Raritan Valley Community College, 71-58, on Saturday afternoon at the Lions Den.
The Spartans, who trailed 30-10 in the 2nd quarter, outscored RVCC 43-23 in the second half to earn the victory. "I couldn't be prouder of this team," remarked Head Coach
Carly Gallagher, "they stayed together and never gave up."
Layla Sweatte (Allentown, PA/William Allen) led the Spartans with 33 points, including a 5 for 9 effort from behind the arc, while
Nia Brown (Bethlehem, PA/Executive Charter) finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and
Neoshe Perez (Bath, PA/Executive Charter) added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Northampton shot 52.6% from the field for the game.
The win moves Northampton to 12-4 overall, while Raritan Valley falls to 6-10.
The Spartans return to conference play on Tuesday when they host the Community College of Philadelphia at 5pm.
