TOM'S RIVER, NJ - The 10th ranked Northampton softball team rolled to a pair of wins on Friday afternoon, cruising past Ocean County College, 17-1 and 12-2, in a Region 19 doubleheader at the Vikings Softball Complex.
GAME ONE - Won 17-1
Emma Kozy (Emmaus, Pa/Emmaus) picked up the win on the mound in game one, firing the complete game, scattering 8 hits while striking out 5 with no walks as the Spartans opened the day with the win.
Maggie Pagotto (Lehighton, Pa/Lehighton) led the way with a 3-4 day at the plate to spark the 15 hit attack by the Spartans.
Maria Moore (Fogelsville, Pa/Parkland High School) was 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI while
Abymarie Colon (Easton, Pa/Wilson High School) was 2-3 with a triple and knocked in a pair pf runs.
Kailyn Kielbasa (Hawley, Pa/Wallenpaupack High School) was 2-5 with a triple and
Rylee Sampson (Easton, Pa/Pen Argyl High School) was 3-4 with a triple.
Kyra Miller (Whitehall, Pa/Whitehall High School) was 1-2 with 3 runs scored along with a triple and 2 RBI to round out the Spartans offense.
GAME TWO - Won 12-2
Emma Kozy (Emmaus, Pa/Emmaus) picked up her second win of the day in game two, firing a another complete game, striking out 4 as she improves to (6-0) on the mound for the Spartans to start the season.
Maria Moore (Fogelsville, Pa/Parkland High School) was 3-4 with a double and
Erin Goonan (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Mechanicsburg High School) was 2-3 with a double and RBI and
Kailyn Kielbasa (Hawley, Pa/Wallenpaupack High School) was 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI to lead the 14 hit attack.
Rylee Sampson (Easton, Pa/Pen Argyl High School) was 2-3 and
Kyra Miller (Whitehall, Pa/Whitehall High School) was 2-4 with 2 runs scored.
Northampton improves to 6-0 overall and 6-0 in Region 19 following the doubleheader sweep.
Ocean falls to 1-7 overall and 1-7 in the Region.
The Spartans are back on the field on Saturday when they travel to Blackwood, New Jersey to take on Camden County College in a Region 19 doubleheader scheduled for 12pm at the Cougar Softball Facility.
