BETHLEHEM. Pa. - The Northampton softball team dropped both games of their Region 19 doubleheader against Ocean County College, dropping game one, 10-0, and game two, 14-11, in extra innings, on a cold and windy Tuesday afternoon at Spartan Field.
GAME ONE - Lost 10-0
Maria Moore (Fogelsville, Pa/Parkland High School) was 1-3 as the Spartans recorded only 1 hit in the, 10-0, loss to the visiting Vikings.
Emma Kozy (Emmaus, Pa/Emmaus) took the loss on the mound, allowing 10 runs and 10 hits, striking out 5 in 5 innings of work.
GAME TWO - Lost 14-11 (8 Innings)
Emma Kozy (Emmaus, Pa/Emmaus) suffered the loss on the mound, allowing 7 earned runs and scattering 5 hits over 5 innings of work, in the tough luck loss.
The Spartans battled back from a 3 run deficit to the tie the game, 11-11, and send the action into extra innings. The Vikings answered with 3 runs on the top of the 8th to regain the lead, 14-11, and shut the door in the bottom of the 8th inning to seal the win and secure the doubleheader sweep over the Spartans.
Rylee Sampson (Easton, Pa/Pen Argyl High School) and
Aniah Clavell (Allentown, Pa/Dieruff High School)Â both were both 4-5 to lead a 14 hit offensive attack for Northampton.
Emily Lattin (Easton, Pa/Easton High School) was 2-5 with 1 run scored and a double with 2 RBI.
Emma Kozy (Emmaus, Pa/Emmaus) was 3-5 with 3 runs scored.
Northampton slips to 10-4 overall and 10-4 in Region 19.
Ocean improves to 6-9 overall and 6-9 in the Region.
Northampton is back on the field on Saturday, April 11th when they host #3 Rowan College South Jersey - Gloucester in a Region 19 doubleheader at 12pm at Spartan Field.
