BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The NCC Softball team used timely hitting, good defense and solid pitching on Thursday afternoon as they swept NJCAA Division II Mercer County College; 1-0 and 4-2.
Ashley Venturino had a big day for NCC, finishing 3 for 6 with an RBI in game two and the only run scored in game one.
"Ashley had a nice day for us," remarked Head Coach Sam Carrodo, "she is a very versatile player and that was one of the characteristics that really attracted us to her when we saw her in high school."
Krysten Rockovits (6-1) earned the victory in game one, allowing seven hits, striking out seven and walking none.
In game two the Spartans were led by
Casey Ord, who finished 3 for 3 with 3 stolen bases and
Erin LaBar who went 1 for 1 with an RBI.
Lindsay Frontino (4-1) picked up the win, allowing two hits, striking out three and walking one.
The Spartans, who host Camden County College on Saturday at noon, improve to 16-4 overall.
Mercer falls to 15-4.
