LINCROFT, NJ - Brookdale Community College, the defending NJCAA Division III national champions, took both ends of a doubleheader vs. the Spartans in Region XIX softball action on Saturday.

Morgan Neel hit a 3-run homerun and had 4 RBI in game one, however it wasn't enough as the Jersey Blues prevailed 9-5.

In game two, Neel finished 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and Ashley Venturino was 2 for 3, but Brookdale pulled away in the last two innings to take a 17-8 victory.

NCC falls to 8-6 overall and 6-6 in Region XIX. 

Brookdale, ranked 3rd in the latest NJCAA poll, improves to 28-3-1 overall and 12-0 in the Region.

The Spartans are scheduled to host Bergen County College at noon on Sunday.
