BETHLEHEM, Pa. - 2011 NJCAA All-American Morgan Neel went 7 for 8 with 11 RBI as the NCC softball team swept NJCAA Division II Lackawanna College, 25-1, 29-4 in their home opener.

In game one, Mel Morekin and Julia Weber combined to hold Lackawanna to 2 hits and Neel went 4 for 4 with 5 runs scored and 5 RBI.  Jaclyn Gates was 4 for 5 with with 5 runs scored and 3 RBI, as every Spartan got at least one hit.

In game two, Emily Perruso earned the victory, throwing a 2-hitter and Neel went 3 for 4 at the plate with 6 RBI to lead NCC.  Gates hit a 3-run homerun and Meghan Granite, Courtney Rice and Mel Morekin each collected 3 hits.

Northampton improves to 4-3 overall and will open up Region XIX play on Saturday when they host Ocean County College at 12pm.
