BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton softball team snapped their two game losing streak with a dominating 18-1, 21-0, sweep of Union County College on Monday afternoon.
Despite severe high winds, Spartan pitchers Mel Morekin and
Julia Weber combined to only allow 6 hits on the day, with Morekin throwing a 4-hitter in game one and Weber a 2-hit shutout in game two.
Jaclyn Gates was 2 for 3 and
Beth Ronalds 2 for 4 to lead the offense in game one.
Weber helped her own cause in game two, hitting her first collegiate homerun and finishing 4 for 5 at the plate.
Amber Hoppes and
Beth Ronalds each went 2 for 2.
NCC improves to 14-9 overall and 8-2 in Region XIX.
Northampton hosts Lehigh Carbon Community College on Tuesday at 3:30pm.
