Softball Earns 20th Victory of the Season

EDISON, NJ - The Northampton Softball team swept a doubleheader from Middlesex County College on Tuesday to notch their 19th and 20th victories of the season, giving NCC three 20 win seasons in four years in the NJCAA.

Mel Morekin led the charge in game one, throwing a 3-hit shutout to earn her 8th win of the season.

Julia Weber and Emily Perruso each went 2 for 3 to pace the offense.

In game two, Weber earned her 7th win of the season on the mound, as the Spartans pounded out 12 hits en route to the 10-3 victory.

Morekin was 3 for 4, Katie Buskirk was 2 for 3, Morgan Neel 2 for 4 with 3 RBI, Courtney Rice 2 for 4 and Meghan Granite 2 for 4.

NCC scored 7 runs in the 3rd inning to blow the game open.

Northampton improves to 20-11 overall and 14-4 in Region XIX.

Middlesex falls to to 13-13 overall and 8-8 in Region XIX.

NCC returns to action on Sunday when they travel to Cumberland County College to close out their Region XIX regular season schedule.  Northampton can lock up the #3 seed for the upcoming Regional tournament if they get one victory vs. the Dukes.
