PARAMUS, NJ - The Northampton softball team rode the right arms of Melanie Hippenstiel and Stephanie Rusu to a sweep of Bergen Community College on Thursday afternoon in Region XIX softball action.

In game one, Hippenstiel struck out 4 and walked none as the Spartans prevailed 8-0.  Alyssa Maffia was 3 for 3 and Hailley Houck had 3 RBI to lead the offense.

In game two, Rusu only allowed 4 hits while striking out 4 in a 6-0 victory.  Karissa Frankenfield, Kristin Steiner, Jesi Cericola and Hailley Houck each had two hits to pace a balanced attack for Northampton.

Northampton improves to 4-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Bergen falls to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in Region XIX.

Northampton returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Kuntz Field at Sussex County Community College for a noon doubleheader.
