BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton Softball team swept Atlantic Cape Community College, 14-1 and 12-2, on Saturday afternoon to run their winning streak to five games.
Melanie Hippenstiel earned the victory in game one and was also 2 for 4 at the plate as the Spartans pounded out 12 hits in the 5-inning victory.
Shelby Belzecky was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI and
Alyssa Maffia was 2 for 2 as NCC scored at least one run in each of the 4 innings they batted.
In game two,
Stephanie Rusu picked up her 6th victory of the season, throwing a 4-hitter. Belzecky stayed hot with a 2 for 2 performance and 2 runs scored,
Jesi Cericola was 3 for 3 with 3 RBI and
Kristin Steiner was 3 for 4 as Northampton improved to 13-9 overall and 9-7 in Region XIX.
Atlantic Cape falls to 4-11 overall and 1-10 in Region XIX.
Northampton is back on the field tomorrow (Sunday) as they travel to Blackwood, NJ to face Camden County College in a Region XIX doubleheader.
