FLEMINGTON, NJ - The Northampton softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader to Division II Mercer County Community College on Monday afternoon at Diamond Nation, falling 9-1 and 10-2.
Due to poor field conditions, the game which was originally scheduled to be played at Mercer, was moved to the turf facility at Diamond Nation.
In game one, the Spartans committed 5 errors which led to 6 unearned runs, as they fell 9-1. Northampton only managed 5 hits, with
Jesi Cericola going 2 for 3 and scoring the lone NCC run.
Shelby Belzecky and
Taryn Zietlow each collected one hit for NCC.

The Spartans did not fare much better in game two, managing only two hits (2 triples by
Taryn Zietlow) in a 10-2 defeat.
Northampton committed two more errors in game two, as the Vikings jumped out to an 8-1 lead after two innings.

Northampton, which falls to 3-3 overall with the sweep, has a quick turnaround as they host Lehigh Carbon Community College on Tuesday at 3:30pm in a Region XIX doubleheader.
