BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton softball team improved to 4-0 in Region XIX with a doubleheader sweep of conference rival Lehigh Carbon Community College on Tuesday afternoon at Spartan Field.
In game one,
Rikki Correll (Pleasant Valley) threw a 2-hit shutout, striking out 7 as the Spartans prevailed 9-0.
Hailley Houck and
Taryn Zietlow were each 2 for 3, as NCC pounded out 11 hits.

In game two Correll earned her second victory of the day, allowing 2 unearned runs, in a 10-2 victory. Zietlow hit a bases clearing triple in the bottom of the 5th inning to end the game with the 8-run rule.

Northampton, now 5-3 overall and 4-0 in Region XIX, will return to action on Saturday when they host perennial Region XIX and national power Brookdale Community College in a doubleheader starting at noon.
