CAPE MAY, NJ - The Northampton softball team snapped their two game losing streak with a convincing doubleheader sweep of Region XIX foe Atlantic Cape Community College on Saturday afternoon.
Rikki Correll threw a 2-hit shutout in game one, striking out 8 as NCC prevailed 10-0.
Shelby Belzecky was 2 for 4,
Jesi Cericola was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored and
Taryn Zietlow was 3 for 3 with 4 runs scored, 2 RBI and 2 doubles.
In game two, Correll threw another 2-hit shutout, as the Spartans won 9-0.
Hailley Houck was 2 for 3 with a triple, Cericola was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple, Belzecky was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI and
Sarah Petrik was 2 for 3 with a double as NCC pounded out 11 hits.
Northampton improved to 11-7 overall and 10-2 in Region XIX.
Sunday's doubleheader vs. Camden County College has been cancelled and will not be made up. NCC will return to action on April 17th when they travel to Luzerne County Community College.
