Softball Back on Track with Sweep of #10 Middlesex

EDISON, NJ - The Northampton softball team bounced back from their doubleheader loss to #2 Brookdale on Saturday with a sweep of 10th ranked Middesex County College on Sunday.

Rikki Correll threw a 3-hitter and the Spartans unleashed 11 hits en route to a 12-2 victory in game one.   Correll also went 3 for 4 at the plate and Shelby Belzecky and Jesi Cericola were each 2 for 4 to pace the offense.

In game two, Correll struck out 6 and allowed 4 hits as the Spartans prevailed 8-1.  Taryn Zietlow was 2 for 3 with a triple, and Sarah Petrik, Rachel Bard and Jesi Cericola each had two hits as NCC improved to 7-5 overall.

Northampton, which received votes in the NJCAA national poll, improved to 6-2 in Region XIX.  The Spartans host Sussex County Community College on Tuesday at 3:30m.
