Volleyball Defeats Lackawanna to Move to 17-0

TANNERSVILLE, Pa. - The Northampton volleyball team won a home "road" game on Monday, defeating Lackawanna College 25-16, 25-13, 25-19 at the new Monroe County campus of NCC in Tannersville, Pa.

The new campus, which opened in August, played host to its first intercollegiate athletic event, as the 5th ranked Spartans faced off vs. the Division II Falcons in Pocono Hall.  "It was a great event," commented Head Coach Adrian Yaguez, "the team really liked the playing surface in the gym and everyone was really impressed with the campus.  I think this is something we will continue to do every season, if possible."

Emily Koehler had 14 kills and 6 digs and Leah Redline added 6 kills and 4 digs as the Spartans, who struggled somewhat throughout the match, were still able to record their 17th straight sweep.  "We didn't play our best tonight," commented Yaguez, "but credit Lackawanna, their coaching staff did a good job getting them up and ready to play tonight."

Anona Bauman finished with 29 assists and Heather Kobrzynski added 2 kills and 6 digs for NCC.

The Spartans, now 17-0, are back home at the Arthur L. Scott Spartan Center on Tuesday, hosting Lehigh Carbon Community College at 7pm.

Lackawanna falls to 7-11 with the loss.
