Men's Soccer Downs Delaware County for First Win of McCarthy Era

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton men's soccer team earned the first victory in the Coach Brennan McCarthy era, downing visiting Delaware County Community College, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon.

Baidy Ba scored 3 goals and Zach Fuls had 8 saves to lead Northampton, which fought back from a 2-1 halftime deficit to earn the victory.  Ba scored a penalty kick in the first-half and then added two second half tallies, including one assisted by Shayne McCormack.  Delaware (1-4-0) outshot the Spartans, 10-9.

"It was a hard-fought victory," remarked McCarthy, "the guys played hard and fought through the heat and battled back after falling behind ... I give them a lot of credit."

Northampton (1-1-0) returns to action on September 9th when they travel to Bucks County Community College to face the Centurions and Coach Justin Burroughs.
