10th Ranked Ocean County Tops Northampton, 4-1

TOMS RIVER, NJ - 10th ranked Ocean County College downed Northampton 4-1 in Region XIX Women's Soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings scored 9 minutes into the contest, but Northampton's Laura Sarria (Easton, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) tied the game at the 23 minute mark with her 12th goal of the season.  Ocean regained the lead before halftime, taking a 2-1 lead into the break.

Ocean, which outshot the Spartans 18 to 4, added two goals in the second half to make the final, 4-1.

"I was really happy with our effort today," commented Head Coach Scott Cullen, "despite the loss, it was one of our better games ... Ocean is very talented and I thought we competed today for 90 minutes."

The loss drops Northampton to 2-6-0 overall, while Ocean improves to 9-2-0 overall and 8-0-0 in Region XIX. 

Northampton hosts Camden County College on Tuesday at 4pm.
