BETHLEHEM, Pa. -
MacKenzie Caffrey (Easton, PA/Pleasant Valley ) threw a no-hitter in game one as the Spartans won their 3rd consecutive game, downing Montgomery County Community College 13-0, before falling in the nightcap, 13-5.
Caffrey walked one and struck out one and was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI to lead the Spartans to the 13-0 victory. Â
Taylor Domenech (Bangor, PA/Bangor) was 2 for 3, including a 3-run homerun, while
Amber Farnholtz (Northampton, PA /Northampton ),
Rachel Bard (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ) and
Bri Barr (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) each had two hits as the Spartans pounded out 15 hits as a team.
In game two, the Mustangs bats came to life, scoring 8 runs on starter
Kiley Kuchar (Bangor, PA/Bangor ) and 5 off Caffrey who came on in relief, to earn a split with a 13-5 victory. Â
Bri Barr (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) was 2 for 2, and Caffrey and
Amanda Decker (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) each added hits for Northampton.
The split puts Northampton at 3-7 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while Montgomery is now 3-5 overall and 1-1 in conference.
The Spartans return to action on Sunday when they host Atlantic Cape at noon.Â
