BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Northampton softball team earned a doubleheader split vs. Atlantic Cape Community College on Sunday afternoon, winning game one 6-3 and falling in game two 8-6.
In game one,
MacKenzie Caffrey (Easton, PA/Pleasant Valley ) earned the victory on the mound, allowing 2 earned runs, scattering 10 hits in the complete game victory. Â Caffrey added 2 hits and a RBI, while
Taylor Domenech (Bangor, PA/Bangor) was 2 for 3 with a RBI and
Bri Barr (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) was 3 for 4 as the Spartans totaled 11 hits.
In game two, Caffrey took the loss in relief of starter
Kiley Kuchar (Bangor, PA/Bangor ). Â Caffrey was 2 for 2 at the plate, while
Amanda Decker (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) was 1 for 1 with 3 walks and
Bri Barr (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame - Green Pond) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI as the Spartans lost a 5-4 lead after 5 innings, losing 8-6.
The split puts Northampton at 4-8 overall and 4-4 in Region XIX, while Atlantic Cape moves to 5-7 overall and 3-5 in Region XIX.
Northampton travels to Newton, NJ on Monday to face Sussex County Community College in a re-scheduled Region XIX matchup at 3:30pm.
