Softball Drops Doubleheader to LCCC

SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - Lehigh Carbon Community College earned their first-ever two victories over Northampton in the NJCAA, downing the Spartans 12-6 and 9-8 in a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at Cougar Park.

In game one, MacKenzie Caffrey (Easton, PA/Pleasant Valley ) took the loss, allowing 10 hits, 8 runs, striking out 5 as the Spartans fell 12-6. Amanda Decker (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) was 2 for 3 with a double, RBI and 2 runs scored, Caffrey finished 2 for 4 with a double and 2 runs scored and Rachel Bard (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty ) added a 2 RBI single.

In game two, Caffrey came on in relief of Kiley Kuchar (Bangor, PA/Bangor ), who allowed 6 runs on 6 hits in two innings. Caffrey, who finished 1 for 4 with a homerun, allowed 3 earned runs and struck out 3 in 3.2 innings of work. Amanda Decker (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom) was 2 for 4 and Samantha Zeruth (Bangor, PA/Bangor) was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI as the Spartans had 8 hits total in the game.

The doubleheader loss drops Northampton to 0-4 overall, while Lehigh Carbon improves to 2-2.

Northampton returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Sussex County Community College for a NJCAA doubleheader starting at 12pm.
